You get to a colorblind society by acknowledging the ways in which color impacts people and challenging those value systems, not by just deciding to ignore the reality of racism. There’s a middle step that y’all are missing. It is impossible to be raised in a racist society and one day choose to not be racist. Centuries of work has gone into building a society around racist ideology. Your decision to not see color doesn’t challenge that at all. It just makes you feel like you’re not complicit, when you are because we all are.
