I don’t think “most”. However, I agree that those who do will have to reconcile that reaction with their activism. We need to change all these systems, but while they remain in place it is simply not okay that some suffer consequences and others do not (especially when those others brought weapons into the capital with intent to harm).
I believe in defunding, I believe in abolition, and I believe in restorative justice. But attempted murderers and violent individuals do need to be off the streets. There they need to be educated, treated physically, fed well, given mental health care, and poverty intervention, etc. Then they need to be given opportunity to pay their debt to society, in society.
